Task management is something which each one of us needs in day to day life. Whether a student, a housewife, a professional or a worker. It is needed more so in today’s fast-paced life. The one thing which is absolutely must for each one of us and something which we cannot afford to ignore is task management.
The most important things to remember while people do task management is:
1) Remember to take a deep breath and move forward with the list of tasks you need to do. Add to it the daily task list, weekly task list and monthly task list.
2) Identify the patterns of the time wasters. For example waiting for something to happen like say waiting for printer to print.
3) What can be done with these tasks? We need to ponder on the tasks and the resources available with us. The machines we have, the people we have and the other resources we have should be utilised full to get really efficient task management.
4) Going through the most important and the least important tasks can give us an idea on totally scrap able tasks. Can we totally eliminate some of the tasks from our list? Identify the unnecessary tasks and what is to be done with them.
5) There are a few tasks which are done repeatedly yet periodically. Can we automate a few such things? For e.g. in our computer systems, we can choose for automatic updates rather than updating ourselves.
6) A few things work better with repair. Believe it or not time management and task management go hand in hand. Find out which things will work efficiently and effectively when repaired or replaced. Change it as soon as possible.
7) Fill out the things which can be done parallel rather than serially. If done one by one or simultaneously makes all the difference.
8) Finally practise task management and master it.
